I have a new layout on the main pages. I am not really feeling that image (too busy, etc) so it will probably change soon, plus I need to add better navigation links. Why do I publish layouts before finishing them? No idea.
Anyway, as it's christmas week (I can't believe it, december lasted exactly 10 minutes) I'll share some snaps of our pre-christmas party at the Red Barn in Surrey. I wouldn't say the food is amazing, but I simply LOVE that huge room with the wooden beams, double height ceiling and library shelves at the end.
Isn't it stunning? In the middle of the room, not pictured, is a huge fireplace that warms the entire room. I would love a house like this, like a barn conversion. Add leather chesterfield sofas, brick walls, lots of wood and tartan and you have my dream countryside abode.
I've always thought the best part of christmas is the run-up to it, the festive anticipation brightening up the days at the same time that they're getting shorter and darker. Seeing the fairy lights on my windows framing the darkness outside and the fairy lights on my neighbours' houses reflecting light back at me makes me happy. But soon after christmas is gone, everything kinda loses its magic and feels deflated and sad and anticlimatic. End of party vibes - plus a sink full of dirty pots.
Then it's january, and as I'm not looking forward to this one (see last post) I shall be clinging to december with a tighter grip than usual. Please, time, slow down and let me savour these last days for a while longer.

So I did it and neglected this little blog. No big disgrace to report, life has been great but my time management issues took a dive for the worse this year. 2026 will need to see a MASSIVE reorganization of my time; some habits and pseudo hobbies (aka. excuses to spend money and make me anxious when i can't keep up) will have to go. I will start the year doing jury duty (as an asocial introvert it is one of my biggest fears) and this has thwarted some plans and disturbed my peace of mind somewhat. but it needs to be done, so let's try to survive it.
I also won't be doing the usual new year's trip to a warmer country because we're on granny duty this time. I'm not too sad about it, though; we've just returned from a city break in beautiful Barcelona - lovely buildings, not so lovely smell of piss and weed in the alleys of the old town, but nevermind - and there are travel plans for the first few months. Also, it is almost certain I will be going to Brazil to see my mother and friends, so there's that to look forward to.
I'm still updating my "oficial" blog, but I don't want to leave this page abandoned so i will try to add news here more often, even if without pictures. Here are a few snipets of last week in the (slightly bluer) Barcelona skies:
